5/10/2024 8:00 AM After a rocky 2 days plagued by sporadic login failures affecting different people differently (see below), things now seem to be back to normal.  We have our fingers crossed.  Apparently, a security upgrade did not go well and logins were  malfunctioning.  We apologize for the issue.  The server center has issued this: Due to increased attacks and security vulnerabilities in previous years, we will no longer support TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1. To ensure your continued data safety, we will be updating support to TLS version 1.2.

5/9/2024 3:00PM Today email faded in and out.  The webmail was stable, but mail to user's local cell phones and computers  was unstable, and different people were affected differently.  It seemed that Iphones were more problematic than any other things.  Right now the system is functioning fine for most users.  Some people may have messed with their settings and that needs to be sorted through.  If you are still having issues, make sure that you review the 2/16/2024 item (below).  On the iPhone mail configuration in the iPhone mail settings the SSL slider button should set SSL to "on" (green)Remember the webmail is stable and, once you connect again through your regular computer/cell phone connection, the accumulated in webmail should transfer from webmail automatically.

5/9/2024 7:40 AM Mail continues to be sporadic and off and on.  Incoming mail goes into your account and is accessible from the red link above logging in using your full email address xxxx@megavision.com and your normal password.  Once things are working again, accumulated email should transfer automatically  from webmail into your computer or cell phone mail program.  You can send mail from the red link above.  There is a good chance that you may also be able to send normally from your computer, as it appears the issue is with the receiving server.

5/9/2024 6:00 AM  It appears that the issues experienced yesterday have returned.  The webmail accessible through the red link above is working.  We are attempting to get an update on when the issue will be fixed.  Do not mess with your settings.  The problem is with the server end.

5/8/2024 9:00 PM Throughout today there were reports of intermittent failure of passwords to work.  The issue would come and go and did not affect everyone. Iphones seemed to be affected more than others.  It now appears to have been fixed.  The red webmail link above was not affected and people were able to get and send email through it.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

4/13/2024 12 PM YES!  We received word this morning that the missing old email from the last account affected by the issues at the server center last week has been found and restored.  MORAL OF THE STORY:  Regularly download your email to your email program on your computer where you can control it.  Even though it seems to work really well, the system is not set up to archive email and it should not be relied upon for storage.

4/12/2024 10:00AM At this time only one email account is reporting unresolved missing old email.  The service center says it is working on finding out why and recovering it, if possible. It is important to download your email to your computer.  Just like the original megavision email, the rescue project is not a mail storage space for archiving email.  Since 4/9/2024 when there were server issues for about 90 minutes the system has been functioning normally.

4/9/2024 2:30PM It appears that mail is now working again (including the red webmail link above).  We have not yet been able to get an explanation of the cause of the failure from the service center.  The emails that some had been archiving in their email accounts and which disappeared last week have not yet been restored.  It is a terrible idea not to download your email to your local computer.  As soon as we know the fate of those lost old emails we will post it here.  Last word we received was restoration was being worked on.

04/9/2024 1:00 PM Last weekend some users reported that older email disappeared from their webmail.  They had not been downloading it to their computers but just storing in on webmail.  The system is set up to deliver email to the user's computer not to store it, although as a practical matter, it has been very good at storing it.  The server center said they were working on fixing the lost emails.  As of today, the problem was not fixed.  Then about noon today the above link ceased to work and email generally failed, even non-webmail.  Currently we are on with the server center trying to obtain information.  We will keep you posted here and apologize for the inconvenience.

2/16/2024 Periodically you may receive a mass email from the service center reminding you to make sure you have the most secure email settings in your email program.

THESE ARE THE MOST RECENT EMAIL SETTINGS FOR YOUR EMAIL PROGRAM:

For incoming mail:

The Incoming (POP) server name is:netsol-pop-oxcs.hostingplatform.com

The incoming port is: 995

The connection security is: STARTTLS

(If your email program does not have a STARTTLS option use: SSL/TLS)

The authenication is type: Normal password

For outgoing mail:

The outgoing (SMTP) server name is: netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com

The outgoing port is: 587

The authentication security is STARTTLS

(If your email program does not have a STARTTLS option use: SSL/TLS)

The authenication is: Normal password

Remember that clicking on the red link at the top of this page will take you to a webmail login page where regardless of your email settings. You can login to use your email on the web using: yoursusername@megavision.com and your password.

Periodically you should go to the webmail page anyway to make sure that your email program is deleting material soon after you download it to your computer.  There is a meter on the page that tells you if you are getting close to the 5 gig limit.  Once that is hit your email will not work until the old items are delete out manually.

On another matter, NEVER EVER respond to an email or phone call asking you to confirm your email account information. Crooks try to trick you into giving them your passwords and information so they can use your email account to pretend to be you and spam.  If you suspect you've been tricked into giving the crooks your email info, please report it to: execmvc@megavision.com so your password can be reset immediately.  The crooks keep dreaming up new ways to trick you. The last one was very well done. It simply asked you to enter your email password into a form and see if everything was ok. It was a scam.

The Rescue Project has been operating now for over a year and we've observed only 5 short outages, each lasting about an hour while the server center did work on the servers.

If you need to report an issue: execmvc@megavision.com

Thank you for being part of the Rescue Project!
